Relational Evangelism Experience

“His voice leads us not into timid discipleship but into bold witness.” – Charles Stanley
To witness boldly for Christ is never easy. But for people who have seen and tasted the saving grace of the Lord, it is more difficult to not share with others the good news of God’s salvation.
This is why JRAM Burnaby intentionally does a relational evangelism activity every 5th Sunday of the month. We engage in homogenous groupings and identify ways to engage in social action. As a congregation, we go out in public places and offer prayer to anyone needing it. Sometimes, we also offer free ice cream and hotdogs.
This is what we did last July 29. Under the assaulting heat of the summer sun, we braved the elements and strengthened our hearts in God as we engaged with park goers on Burnaby/New Westminster Quay Park and the pier of Fraser River.
What started as a daunting task soon turned into an exciting act of obedience to God as random people began responding to us. Some engaged with us in talks while others requested for prayers.
It is both humbling and encouraging how God is able to use us as channels of His grace to others by simply making ourselves available to them – and for them. It keeps the cycle of evangelism and discipleship going. After all, we are products of someone else’s generosity as well. Thus, it is important to make it a habit to join our JRAM Burnaby’s relational evangelism activities. – Leonida Suson
